I picked up Foxy’s jaw off the floor in astonishment; just by the weight alone I could tell that this metal was built to last, which only made me more frightened of Freddy’s strength. As I looked closer at the individual teeth, I became aware of the dark red stains forever imprinted into the jagged fangs. Only then did it occur to me the destructive power of these animatronics. My hands trembled.
“Elena?”
I jumped upon hearing Bonnie’s voice; the rabbit looked at me with concern and slowly approached me. “You don’t need to worry about Foxy,” he assured me calmly, “We can fix his jaw easily.” He knelt down, trying his best to get level with me. “However, if something were to happen to you, we couldn’t fix that. You have to remember...”
Bonnie glanced at Freddy, who gave him a small nod. The rabbit reached behind his head and unlatched the hinge connected to his neck, pulling off his face to reveal a metallic, bare endoskeleton; I couldn’t have distinguished him from any other endoskeleton if it weren’t for his magenta-colored eyes. I tried not to show my fear as he gazed into my soul, but it must have been obvious by the way I was shaking.
“...Elena, we’re just a bunch of robots,” Bonnie continued, moving his metallic jaw smoothly. “I know you want to help us, but there are just some things that you shouldn’t get involved with for your own good.” He placed his “head” back on, returning to the Bonnie I was familiar with. “We don’t normally like to show our ‘skeletons’ to people, but we needed to make an exception for this one time.” He placed his hand on my shoulder gently. “You shouldn’t have to risk your life for us.”
The purple bunny stood up and walked with me back to Pirate’s Cove; the table that had been smashed against it was back in its proper place, as if nothing had happened. In fact, the only evidence of the fight was the mechanical jaw still in my hands. I wanted to give it back to Foxy, but I was hesitant because Freddy was staring at me. I became more tense when Freddy started walking towards me; if Bonnie didn’t make me feel tiny and insignificant, it was the 8-foot tall bear that did.
Freddy put his paw out, glancing at Foxy’s jaw intently. I immediately handed him the metallic mouth; I didn’t want to anger Mr. Fazbear again, considering what he did to me the first time around. Freddy looked at me calmly and sighed to himself quietly. “My sincerest apologies,” he said in a hushed tone before walking away with the jaw.
It only took those few words for me to get what was going on, and although it upset me, I decided not to let it out on Freddy...for obvious reasons. “You aren’t going to give Foxy his jaw back?” I asked the bear, “I can fix him up again...” The stone-cold glare I received from Freddy shut me up quickly. I turned to Bonnie; surely he would have something to say about his best friend. “Can-can I at least check on him?” I asked weakly. Bonnie once again looked to his boss for confirmation; the bear nodded. My suspicions were correct.
I went behind the starry curtains of Pirate’s Cove and found Foxy in a terrible state; not only was his lower jaw absent, but it appeared that the hole in his chest had gotten even larger. The pirate looked at me gloomily; I could tell he wanted to say something, but his lack of a functional mouth prevented him from doing so. However, I could see his voice box in the opening where his jaw used to be, and after some quick tweaks, managed to get it working on its own.
“Ay, lassie,” Foxy said in a slightly robotic tone, “Ye can work miracles on me.” He tried to smile, but he couldn’t do it for obvious reasons. “I want to apologize fer gettin’ ya tangled in our fight. I wasn’t expectin’ ol’ Fazbear to get on me case as quickly as he did.” He glanced down at the gaping hole in his head, giving a faint chuckle before looking up again. “Strange to be jabberin’ without me chompers,” he commented.
“Foxy, do you think you can handle that for now?” I asked worriedly.
The fox laughed. “Lassie, I’ve been in worse shape than this. I’ll be just fine, no need to get all worked up over it.” He looked off into the distance briefly. “Besides, I don’t think this’ll top what happened in ’87.”
“What, you mean the bite?”
He shook his head. “Nah, lass, I mean the_”
Foxy froze mid-sentence and scrambled to cover his non-existent jaws; he looked pale with fear, like he had almost said something he shouldn’t have. How would I know this? Because Freddy ripped open the curtains right afterwards; so much for trying to stay on his good side.
“Elena, I’d recommend gettin’ outta here before we both get sent to Davy Jones’ locker,” Foxy whispered anxiously.
“For once, I agree with you,” Freddy said in a sinister tone.
That was my cue to scram. I jumped out from behind the curtains, only to immediately find myself in Chica’s lung-crushing grasp. “I’m so sorry for this, Elena,” she whimpered, and the two of us were ushered out of the dining area by Bonnie. Freddy’s voice echoed down the hall as we approached the office.
“Foxy, have you ever heard the saying ‘Loose lips sink ships’? I thought that every pirate knew that, but apparently you don’t. Maybe this will remind you from now on.”
A horrible, robotic scream filled the air just as Bonnie shut the doors behind us. As the scream died off, it sounded like a battery dying on a toy; it shot up in pitch before slowing down to a complete stop. By the sounds of it, Freddy had ripped out Foxy’s voice box.
“Bonnie, we need to help him!” I cried in protest. I reached for the door button, but Bonnie grabbed my wrist tightly.
“Elena, I can’t let you do that,” Bonnie told me in a sullen voice, “Not when Freddy’s all worked up like he is now. You were very lucky to have survived his wrath the first time, and we can’t risk_”
I cut him off and raised my voice. “I know you don’t want me to get hurt, but why can’t YOU do anything?! Are you just going to let Freddy beat up Foxy again!?”
“But what if he punches a hole in my chest? Foxy doesn’t have to perform in front of kids every day, but I do!”
“That doesn’t mean that you should let Foxy get ripped apart!” I countered, “I don’t want to hear what Freddy thinks is right, I want to hear what YOU think is right!”
Bonnie let go of my wrist and backed away nervously. “Wh-what do you mean?” he stammered.
“You know exactly what I mean, Bonnie,” I replied harshly, “And so does Chica.” Chica, who was sitting in the corner of the office, stood up and nodded. “Everything you said back there in the dining area,” I continued, “That wasn’t you speaking; that was Freddy speaking. Last night I saw the real Bonnie, and that isn’t who I see standing before me.”
I turned to Chica. “Chica,” I asked her, “Right now, what is the number one thing you’d wish for?”
“I...I want everyone to stop fighting,” she replied hesitantly, “Normally I’d say a friend_ or pizza_ but right now I just want everyone to get along.”
“Isn’t that something you wish would happen?” I asked Bonnie, “Don’t you ever wish that you and Foxy could hang out together again?”
The rabbit hesitated; he was definitely thinking over it, but he seemed to be struggling to pick a side. Finally, he replied; “Every single day.” Bonnie opened the door and ran to the dining area once again; Chica ran after him, but I stayed behind in the office. I knew that this was something I didn’t need to partake in, so I decided to abide by Freddy’s request and stayed out of their ordeal.
But what I was really concerned about was what Foxy was trying to tell me; when he was arguing with Freddy, he mentioned something about secrets that he was keeping from me and how I was bound to find out at some point. Did something else happen in 1987?
“Oh, I’m sure you’ll find out soon enough...”
It was “that” voice again, the one that sounded like Freddy’s, and it was coming from the hallway. To my relief, Freddy wasn’t standing in the hallway this time; in fact, no one was there. However, I didn’t remember there being poster of Freddy just outside my window. Maybe it was just me; after all, I had been running around so much lately. It was strange, though; for a second, I thought I saw Freddy’s face covering the entire poster, but his fur was... gold.
Yay, long chapter! And it's still only night 2!
